The Archdiocese of Manila has issued a warning against bogus Facebook accounts purportedly of Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle appealing for donations.
Christmas in the Philippines is rich in customs and traditions. And the celebration here won’t be complete without the country’s own version of “12 days of Christmas”, only this one is the nine-day dawn mass from December 16-24.
Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle said Catholics should attend the “Simbang Gabi” (Dawn Mass) as it is a typically Filipino way of celebrating the great feast of Christmas.
Before the crack of dawn today, bells rang in churches from Aparri to Jolo. Simbang Gabi has begun. There’s a nip in the air at that time of morning. The enticing aroma of bibingka, puto bungbong and salabat beckon to the faithful, inviting them to fill their stomachs as they fill their hearts with the spirit of Christmas. Oh, how wonderful it is to be home! Pasko na naman!
