Time stops for no one. But thanks to Biologique Recherche (BR), a brand that takes a profound approach to beauty, time is arrested in terms of signs of aging.

From being a pure research-and-development laboratory 35 years ago, BR is now celebrating a longstanding reputation of creating products with astounding effectiveness, using only the purest and most concentrated ingredients under highly scientific, meticulous clinical protocols.

I found out about all this from Rubby Coyiuto, CEO of Eiskin Laboratories, which is bringing the BR brand to the Philippines. Flying in for the launch were Dr. Philippe Allouche and Pierre Louise Depalme of Biologique Recherche in Paris.

At the very core of BR’s approach in crafting its skincare products and services is a unique way of looking at the skin. Doctor Allouche, one of the brand’s pioneers, coined the term “Skin Instant,” referring to the change in each individual’s skin condition throughout the the day and as it goes through life.

Skin Instants differ per person, and the BR way is to treat each individual’s skin based on its specific Skin Instant.

That said, the methodology behind BR products comes in seven stages of treatment, in which the Skin Instant is analyzed and a customized formulation is then applied.

No less than the Chi Spa at Edsa Shangri-La hotel houses Biologique Recherche’s Philippine headquarters. At Chi Spa, BR can offer its in-depth and highly specialized approach to skincare.

As a fitting celebration, members of the media and bloggers experienced BR firsthand at the launch. Several facial treatments were given to the delighted guests.

An intimate dinner with the beauty experts was hosted for guests to enjoy the new beauty products and services. I now have a ton of BR products added to my bottle keep of skin products, all to ensure I age gracefully.

Your perfect margarita

A week after that affair, I went to a completely different event, the launch of “Your Perfect Margarita” at Todd English Food Hall at SM Aura.

Casa Noble and Cointreau, two iconic brands, have come together to ensure that the best ingredients in making the perfect margarita are present. With the best 100-percent blue agave tequila and the world’s best and most used orange liqueur, you can’t go wrong with making “Your Perfect Margarita.”

Casa Noble and Cointreau’s top brass were in full force, from Edwin Ong of Casa Noble and Joey Pineda of Cointreau. Joey explained that the perfect margarita consists of three basic ingredients: Casa Noble Tequila, Cointreau Orange Liqueur and fresh lime juice. Ingredients are vital, but it is also important to understand how it is to make a perfect margarita.

The doctor of cocktails, Lee Watson, gladly showed us a couple of his favorite margarita recipes, which included the Perfect 10 Margarita—a combination of Casa Noble, Cointreau, whiskey and seven more ingredients—which makes for a Top 10 drink.

Casa Noble Tequila and Cointreau are the two ingredients that most mixologists and bartenders prefer when making their signature margaritas. The former is one of only three organic tequilas in the world, produced since the 1700s. Cointreau, on the other hand, is a triple sec orange liqueur, and gives the cocktail its sweet, light and tangy flavor.

With those simple guidelines, guests were also encouraged to make their own margaritas at the DIY margarita bar. Lee and Issa Litton played judges and taste-tested all the entries, and gave prizes out to the winners.

Inspired living

With the rainy season upon us, it’s a great time to enhance your personal style in the home setting. This August, Rustan’s Inspired Living Home Fair has created vignettes where you’ll find decors, table accents and soft furnishings fit for your haven.

At Rustan’s Shangri-La Plaza, interior designers Tessa Alindogan, Marilen Montenegro and Ana Rocha have curated inspiring spaces using the pieces from the collection.

Tessa has been practicing interior design for two decades and travels to keep her inspirational sources fresh. An alumna of the Inchbald School of Design in London, her style is classic with a modern twist. She created a design space for Donnie Tantoco, president of Rustan’s Commercial Corp., which she imbued with a classically masculine and rugged look with an air of worldly refinement and retro touches. Just like Donnie himself.

Interior designer Ana’s vignette is an antechamber for Mia Borromeo, another world traveler. Mia enjoys surrounding herself with beautiful pieces she finds during her trips. Her sense of style is a unique blend of elegance fused with unexpectedness. Ana used her knowledge of Mia’s personality, and creatively added Moroccan touches and infused rich colors and textures for her space.

For interior stylist and design blogger Marilen’s vignette, a rustic chic dining setup was created for actress Bianca King. After several meetings, they got their design concept pegged into a casual dining display with lots of wood and greenery touches. Bianca loves simplicity, but is not afraid to use touches of color and fun.
