The Philippines’ bet Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach posted on Tuesday morning her first picture as the new Miss Universe.

 

Wurtzbach posted the photo on Instagram where she can be seen all dolled-up with her diamond-studded crown and her sash placed on a glass table.

 

The beauty queen thanked her fans for their support.

 

“42 years of drought and now it finally reigns :) Mabuhay! Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat,” Wurtzbach said.

 

The post has been liked more than 109,000 times.

 

Wurtzbach’s win marked the third time that a Filipina wore the Miss Universe crown. She also made the Philippines the only Asian country which has three Miss Universe winners.

 

The 26-year-old beauty’s victory was plagued by controversy as pageant host Steve Harvey mixed-up the result when he had announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the winner. He then rectified his mistake and apologized. AJH/IDL
