Daniel Matsunaga: Why he loves leather bracelets, watches and Eddie Garcia

By

DANIEL Matsunaga

He may have first come to the Philippines with short-term plans, but these days, Daniel Matsunaga is looking well-settled. Starting out as a TV and print model, he won the hearts of TV viewers when he first appeared in the GMA teleserye “The Last Prince.” Now, he appears in TV5 teleseryes and hosts a noontime show. Not surprisingly, after almost four years in the country, Daniel has not only learned our language and ways, he is also thriving in them.

I entered show biz because… It opened a lot of doors for me.

What I love the most about show biz is… You can have fun while doing work at the same time.

What I hate the most about show biz is… It deprives you of sleep.

The best and worst thing about dating a celebrity is … You understand each other in terms of work time and intrigues, because you come from the same industry. The worst is that wherever you go, whatever you do, cameras follow you.

A costar I enjoy working the most with is… Miss Lorna Tolentino, because she’s fun and she shares tips on how to improve myself as an actor.

My favorite Filipino actor is… Eddie Garcia, because he’s done more than 100 movies and he’s been in the industry for a very long time, yet you can see his passion still burning every time he’s in front of the camera. I want to be like him.

The men’s fashion accessories I have the most number of are… Leather bracelets, because they complete any outfit. And watches also. Some that I have in my collection are Titan, Uboat, Technomarine.

The grooming products I can’t live without are… Nivea facial foam, Nivea body wash, Nivea deodorant, Close up toothpaste and L’Oreal hair wax.

NIVEA anti-aging facial foam

A bath product I love from Brazil, but can’t get here is … Natura Ekos Maracuja.

My current favorite perfumes are… Creed Silver Mountain Water, Gucci Guilty and Zara Man por homme.

My most trusted salon is… Jing Monis Salon.

When traveling, my beach essential is… Nivea sunblock.

NIXON stainless steel watch

Daniel’s choice perfumes come from Rustan’s department store and his bath and body products from Watsons. Follow Daniel on twitter @dmatsunaga, or catch his shows on TV5: “Enchanted Garden” (Monday-Friday, 6:30 p.m.); “Third Eye” (every Sunday 9:30 p.m.); “Game and Go” (every Sunday, 12 noon).

Very nice and humble guy. May he thrive more!

Heart Evangelista junked him, but Daniel quickly recovered. Heart turned him away in favor of a married then separated but wealthy politician. Choosing between the two men, the politician’s main advantage is his clout being wealthy but Daniel’s charm surpasses it all. He is sincere and dedicated and perhaps, he will survive on his own. This hunk is luckier than his two Brazilian contemporaries, Akihiro Sato and Fabio Ide because Daniel persevered and it is gradually paying off.

    I love Eddie Garcia too.
