Last Mother’s Day, I received Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream with a bouquet of flowers. To be perfectly honest I was more excited by the flowers.

 

If you’ve been reading my column, you will know by now I do switch products from time to time depending on how my skin feels. I highly recommend doing this, since our skin needs change depending on our environment, stress, what we eat.

 

Most of the time women stick to one product and use it all up before replenishing. Many are also loyal to the same product. I understand this completely, it is just less complicated, and women can be creatures of habit. But ask yourself, are you really helping your skin? The answer is most probably, no.

 

I notice I’ve been buying anti-aging products and am very conscious of the sudden appearance of wrinkles. Yes, they do appear overnight! I tried Olay and was pleasantly surprised with how my skin felt and looked the next day! Lesson learned for me really is to try even what I think might not be as effective as the higher end products I have on my counter.

 

I’m on my third night of using it and my skin feels supple and tighter, I also think it has a dewy glow. This product will stay on my counter next to the other products I rotate. I think if you already have a moisturizer you are loyal to, it wouldn’t hurt to add Olay Regenerist for a few days. It is reasonably priced and you are actually doing good to your skin by alternating products ones in a while.

 

SPF considered

 

These days when I buy a product, a big consideration is if it has SPF, even if I already put an SPF on my face. It was time to buy foundation and I passed by the Clinique counter and listened to the sales attendant attending to a customer buying powder foundation. Well guess what—I ended up buying it, too.

 

I’ve been using liquid foundation for years and Clinique Even Better Powder Makeup SPF 25/PA+++ diminishes dark spots and discoloration, stays on the whole day and has a luminous light finish that I actually love about liquid foundations. Aside from the SPF, this product appealed to me because I felt I needed a foundation I can stick in my bag and easily apply when I’m in a rush. My friends complimented my skin the first day I used it and I am extremely pleased with this product.

Another new product I absolutely love is Stila’s pencil lip colors! I ended up with three namely Vivid Violet, Festive Fuchsia and Tangerine Dream. I hope to do the no-makeup look with a pop of an amazing lippie and these pencils do the trick. They are also black-light responsive lip colors designed to dazzle by day and glow by night. They contain fluorescent pigment that are three times brighter than conventional colors.

 

I have no intentions of going to a rave anytime soon but I found them so fun I had to get three! I also grabbed their limited-edition shade Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in turquoise that I can’t wait to use on the beach.
