Practical summer tips to survive in the city | Lifestyle.INQ

Hot Girl Summer is getting a little too hot. Here’s how you can survive it

There is nothing easy, breezy, or beautiful about this summer heat. We are all sweating up and down our rolls, and it’s the most unsexy experience we can have under the sun. Everyone who can is leaving the city to either hide from the high temperatures or fully embrace it, but not all of us can skip out of town.

For us unlucky ones who are (sadly) spending our Hot Girl Summer in the city, that means waking up sweating, going to work exhausted, and coming home with a hot head—both literally and figuratively. If you don’t want your electricity bill to suffer as much as you are, here are some summer tips to during one of the worst seasons ever (at least in our opinion).

Drink your water, babes

Everyone knows you have to stay hydrated, but knowing and doing are two different things. Water is the source of life, and if you want to survive this heat, you’ll need to be drinking a lot of it. Heat stroke and heat exhaustion are high temperature-related medical emergencies you’ll want to avoid.

And all the hot girls stay hydrated!

Choose the right outfit

They say beauty is pain, but sweltering in an outfit can make you change your mind. Cotton, linen, and silk are some of the most breathable materials you should consider for your summer wardrobe. If you love wearing dark colors, you may want to think twice since it retains more heat. And when it comes to fit, the looser the better.

And if you’re wearing a summer dress and want to avoid chafing, wearing shorts underneath is a lifesaver. It also wicks away sweat (which we all need, tbh). If you’re not a shorts type of person, swiping some deodorant on your inner thighs can help you cut down on chafing.

Tissue, tissue, and more tissue

Having a pack of tissues with you at all times is a summer necessity. Sweating through your outfit may be inevitable, but you could always slow it down by blotting away sweat as it comes.

Pamaypay SZN

While a breezy day may sound nice in the middle of all this heat, summer breezes aren’t as pleasant or reliable as they used to be. Most people already keep a battery-operated fan in their bags all the time, but having a manual pamaypay as a backup can be a lifesaver.

Those rechargeable fans need power to run. A pamaypay just needs a little elbow grease. It’s also a fashion statement to elevate your look to madam status.

Culture (with a side of air conditioning)

Malls are one of the biggest summer attractions in the country because of the free air conditioning. If you want some air conditioning without the crowds, there are museums and galleries that provide a much-needed blast of cold air. And you might even learn something new and enjoy yourself while cooling off.

Sunscreen, please!

The importance of sunscreen cannot be overstated. Aside from keeping your skin looking fresh, it’s also a necessary preventive measure against skin cancer. Make sure to apply a generous amount before you leave and have a sunscreen stick or a small bottle with you so you can reapply throughout the day.
