We can now book an Uber again because the company just won’t back down.
The ride-hailing company just filed a motion for reconsideration, asking the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to lift or shorten the one-month ban it has previously ordered. Upon filing the motion earlier today, Uber decided to resume its operations and pickup passengers once again.

Yesterday, the LTFRB commanded Uber to halt its services for a month in a cease-and-desist order. This is due to the company’s violation of the LTFRB’s instructions not to accredit new drivers starting July 26.
Uber complied and announced this morning its temporary suspension of operations. Until before noon, that is.
However, it may not be advisable for Uber drivers to pick up passengers just yet.
“The order still stands,” LTFRB board member Aileen Lizada said in a press conference today. This means the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) would still apprehend Uber drivers who are caught resuming operations.
On Twitter, netizens warned riders, too. They asked Uber regulars to avoid using the app as drivers may get arrested for picking up passengers despite the ban:
Please don’t book an Uber until the legal issues have been resolved. It’s status quo until a temporary restraining order has been issued.
