“I was able to bring happiness to my country after becoming Miss Universe for only a couple of minutes.” That was Miss Colombia most recent post on Instagram after the pageant fiasco which mistakenly declared her as Miss Universe, only to be decrowned a few minutes later.
Ariadna Gutierrez earlier posted photos of her wearing the Miss Universe crown before it was handed over to the actual winner, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach of the Philippines.
Gutierrez has received both congratulations and flak for her post, with some calling her insensitive.

Her recent post showed a photo of her making the heart symbol with her hands. She thanked her fans and “everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength.”
“After the storm comes the calm,” she said.
She also congratulated the Philippines for winning the pageant.
“I also want to congratulate the Philippines for their new Miss Universe. The happiness that you must be feeling must be incredible,” Gutierrez said.
The Miss Universe first runner-up said she was thankful for the support not only of her fellow Colombians but also the rest of the world.
“Your destiny is written for you. And my destiny was this,” she added.
She pointed out that while she lost the crown, Colombia and the Latin community has caught the attention of the world.
“Life continues and in the future we will find out why things happen the way they happen,” she said.
Gutierrez’s post has so far received 41,900 likes and more than 3,000 comments. A similar post in Spanish has received 72,100 likes. KS
