ALWAYS the last school to suspend classes whenever storms affect Metro Manila, the University of the Philippines-Diliman pushed through with its annual Lantern Parade despite bad weather caused by Typhoon “Nona.”
When the downpour stopped, students, faculty and guests flocked to the university’s Academic Oval to catch the highly anticipated showcase of uniquely crafted lanterns and floats inspired by this year’s theme, “Dingas: Adhikaing Diliman, Adhikaing Bayan.”
College of Engineering bagged the top prize with its version of UP’s Oblation, complete with a fiery heart gazing upon a small city.
Second place was awarded to College of Architecture’s Maranao-themed house. Students lifted the structure, reenacting Botong Francisco’s famous “Bayanihan” painting.
National College of Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG) took third place with its large sun.
