Bayanihan, the national folk dance company, is marking its 61st anniversary and opening its 2017 season on Aug. 24-26 at Cultural Center of the Philippines.
Bayanihan will restage the dance company’s most famous repertoire but with updated interpretations.
New choreography will incorporate into the numbers the native martial arts form, Arnis.
Aug. 24 and 25 shows are at 8 p.m., and Aug. 26 shows are at 3 and 8 p.m.
On Dec. 17 at CCP, Bayanihan will mount the 11th Fiesta Folkloriada with award-winning dance companies from Serbia, Russia, Slovakia, New Zealand and Guam.
