It’s out with revealing necklines and seductive slits in this year’s bridal wear trends.
For 2018, it’s all about modesty, with wedding dresses offering a little more coverage than in previous seasons, according to the Pinterest Wedding Report 2018.
This is no doubt linked to the need for comfort expressed as a key theme by users of the social network, looking for simple, elegant and laid-back gowns.
For the 2018 season, lots of specialist wedding dress designers and brands are offering simple, fuss-free dresses, as well as backless designs, and skirt and crop top ensembles. However, this year, brides-to-be seem particularly interested in creations offering coverage.
With over four billion wedding ideas for users to browse and pin on the social network, Pinterest’s Wedding Report offers a snapshot of this year’s upcoming style trends.
This year, brides-to-be are looking for high neckline gowns (+351 percent saves on the app), with or without sleeves, sometimes with backless designs. Boleros are tipped as another key trend, making a major comeback with sheer designs or in heavier fabrics (+163 percent).
For a change from timeless white, brides-to-be are looking for other light, neutral shades for a subtle hint of color. Champagne is particularly popular (+358 percent), as well as rose pink (+46 percent).
Tweed rules supreme when it comes to menswear. Suits designed in this classy fabric have piqued the interest of Pinterest’s future grooms (+165 percent). However, laid-back tie-free ensembles could prove the most popular men’s trend for this year’s events (+459 percent). JB
