In keeping with the theme of female empowerment, it’s been revealed that chef Clare Smyth, the first and only female chef in the United Kingdom to have helmed a three Michelin-starred restaurant, catered what was perhaps the most historical reception of the year in the U.K.
The auspicious gig comes just one month after organizers of the influential World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards bestowed the chef with the title of world’s best female chef 2018.
According to The Sun, the menu was casual, with pork belly, burgers, cotton candy, whiskey bars and cocktails. Champagne Pol Roger was also the bubbly of choice for the evening.
After earning three Michelin stars as the head chef at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay (formerly known as Royal Hospital Road), and a stint at Alain Ducasse’s Monte Carlo restaurant Le Louis XV, Smyth broke out on her own last year to open Core by Clare Smyth, one of the hottest dining destinations in London.
It’s not insignificant that the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, also chose an outstanding female to design her wedding dress. Briton Clare Waight Keller became the first female artistic director at the house of Givenchy last year. JB
