A rescue shelter in Missouri, United States shared a heartbreaking letter they received from a dog owner who was pleading for the facility to take care of her pet if she did not survive her battle with cancer.

Stray Rescue of St. Louis shared via Facebook on Oct. 1 a photo of the handwritten letter and an image of the dog called Shell.

The letter begins, “I’m writing you cause I need you to take my dog, Shell,” before adding, “I’ve been fighting cancer for a few months and if you’re reading this I lost my battle. I need for my baby girl to be taken care of in a home. In these days all I do is worry about what’s going to happen to her. I love this girl, she is my daughter.

Stray Rescue of St Louis assured followers that Shell was being cared for by staff until a new home could be found for her. JB
