(Part 3)
There are four ways in which our astral body can go out of our physical shell. They are as follows:
1) Unintentionally and unconsciously. Your astral body may go out unintentionally while you are asleep, and you do not know that you are out of your body. That’s why most people do not believe there’s such a thing. This is the most common type of astral projection or out-of-body experience.
When you dream that you are flying, it is because your astral body is floating while your physical body lies asleep on the bed.
2) Unintentionally but consciously. This is what happens when you go out of your physical body and awaken in the astral plane. If this happens to you for the first time and you don’t know anything about the phenomenon, you may panic and think you are dead. You struggle to get back to your body, but the more you try, the more difficult it is to go back.
The trick here is not to panic, keep calm and, after a while, you will easily get back to your body.
The reason you have difficulty getting back to your physical body is this: When you panic or struggle, the vibration of your astral body is out of sync with your physical. So it cannot get in easily and naturally.
3) Intentionally but unconsciously. You attempt to go out of your physical body, you succeed in doing so, but you do not know that you had succeeded. So, you do not do anything. You will get back to your body unconsciously, too.
4) Intentionally and consciously. This is the ideal, but is quite rare. There are only a few persons who have developed the skill to do this intentionally and consciously. One whom I had met is a Filipino living in Makati. She related to me the many occasions in which she went out of her body consciously, even as far as going out of the country, to visit her parents traveling abroad.
Conscious astral travelers
The other conscious traveler is Robert Monroe, an American engineer who recorded his astral travels in a series of books titled “Journeys Out of the Body.”
The others are psychic Sylvan Muldoon, Hereward Carrington, American psychic Ingo Swann, who helped scientists Russell Targ and Harold Puthoff develop the remote viewing methodology at Stanford Research Institute in Menlo Park, California, in the 1970s, and D. Scott Rogo, psychic researcher and writer, who wrote a book on how to go out of one’s body consciously.
But what are the benefits of astral travel? There are many.
When you are in the astral plane, you are whole. There is no pain. Everything is pleasant.
If you have a defect in your physical body, like, for example, scoliosis, or if you have back pain, or you had your leg amputated, you will feel no pain and your whole astral body is complete.
If you are blind physically, you will be able to see in the astral plane.
You will have a better understanding of the spiritual world. You can meet spirit guides or other astral travelers you can learn from.
It is also possible to prevent an illness before it manifests in the physical plane. American Indian shamans call this “retrieving” the soul of sick individuals. This is because before an ailment appears on the physical plane, it must first appear on the astral or spiritual plane.
In the astral plane, if one is lucky, one may meet a kindred spirit of the opposite sex with whom he can have astral sex without physical contact.
I have described this rare and unforgettable experience in my book, “Exploring the Powers of Your Inner Mind.” In the astral plane, you can travel anywhere on earth and even go to other planets. That’s why the astral body is sometimes referred to as the “desire” body in esoteric literature.
