I’ve never been the type of person to sport long nails. My nails are brittle, so they always need to be cut short.
I also am not the most adventurous when it comes to nail colors or nail art. My friends know very well how I only go for white or red nail polish. The one time I tried orange, I just couldn’t stand it and had it changed as soon as I could.
Around a week or so ago, Extraordinail delivered my acrylic nails, and they provided an exciting opportunity.
These nail extensions were my chance to experiment. They’re convenient, as they are customized to your nails beds. You don’t need to file them down yourself. All you need to do is to glue them with the acrylic provided with the kit. You can choose what color they should come in or if you want a certain design on them.
They are neither painful, nor do they cause discomfort when they’re on.
Long nails and nail art receive a lot of attention these days. I see how there are over 100 million posts with the the hashtag #nails and over 68 million posts for #nailart.
Celebrities like Cardi B and Khloe Kardashian like to show that nails are part of their whole look. Cardi B’s nails became such a sensation that they made a star out of her nail artist Jenny Bui.
‘Queen of Bling’
Jenny Bui is tagged as the “Queen of Bling” in New York City. Cardi B first went to Bui in 2012, still an unknown rapper at that time. These days, it is reported that Bui sees customers from all over the United States wanting those long nails. They’re happy to spend hundreds of dollars on the bling for their nails, wearing them out for the four to six weeks that they can last.
At the Grammy Awards, Billie Eilish showed off green acrylics to go with her all-Gucci look.
Heart Evangelista is often at Extraordinail to get her tips done, matching them with her fashion week outfits or to also express her painting projects.
I’ve always wondered what life is like for people with nail extensions. It’s fun, but I believe it takes a certain kind of person to wear them.
I guess I need some time to get used to acrylic nails. Maneuvering my way around tasks was a challenge. I kept pressing the wrong letters when I would text. I had to fumble with my clothes’ zippers.
When I took a shower, I still wasn’t used to them, such that I accidentally poked my eye. This led me to avoid holding floaties when I went swimming with my kids. I thought I would pop them with my nails.
Don’t get me wrong. I would try them again. I’ve decided to get a set in a shorter length.
In the meantime, I would love to get your suggestions on how to live life with long and glamorous nails.
