Broadcaster and TV host Korina Sanchez honored her nanny who was in service to her family for five decades.

Sanchez paid tribute to her “Nanay Fe” who recently passed away, as per her Instagram post yesterday, March 8, where she also showed a photo of her.

“Imagine this [17-year-old] girl from Tacloban finding a job as yaya to a feisty little girl named Korina,” Sanchez said. “I think she was challenged. Since then she refused to leave our family.”

Sanchez believes that Nanay Fe felt joy and pride about her milestones in life, such as when she got to work on TV and when she started raising her own family and having kids. Nanay Fe also did not just take care of Sanchez, but of her three younger brothers and their families as well.

She considers Nanay Fe as a “treasure” since “they don’t make them like our Nanay Fe anymore.” She particularly marveled at Nanay Fe’s feat of “50 years in dedicated, selfless service to our family.”

“We were planning a bash for her to say Thank You. But [there have] been many many Thank You’s exchanged all these years. Still not enough,” she said.

Another thing Sanchez realized is that “we all should never waste time [and converse] with our loved ones especially the elderly.”

“They long to converse and share their thoughts. But we are often too busy. Don’t wait,” she added.

“Our Nanay Fe left us tonight. She joins my Mom and Dad and my brother for a reunion she told us she was ready for,” Sanchez said, further noting that “true Mothers need not be blood.”

“What a woman Fe Mazo was, and will forever be in our hearts,” Sanchez said. “Paalam Nanay. Till we meet again.” JB
