With the Premier Volleyball League turning pro, exciting things are in store for pro volleyball player Alyssa C. Valdez.
“Hopefully, we will be able to start the conference soon,” the 27-year-old told Lifestyle.
She’s kept busy working out, of course, like trying different sports like golf.
And not only that. “I’m trying to start a small business making some scented candles.”
Valdez said she wasn’t always into fitness, but she realized how important it is to her as an athlete. “I realized that I have to take good care of my body so I can perform well.”
In this week’s Fitness Diaries, Valdez shares her routine and how she stays in tip-top shape.
My fitness routine: I usually start the day early. I love doing my workout before work. And end my day with meditation.
Favorite workouts: Probably, squat exercises and push-ups. Something basic and somewhat boring but still very important.
Workout frequency: Five to six times a week
I work out … In the house
My fitness essentials/must-haves: My yoga mat
My workout playlist: Everything ’90s. “All I Want Is Your Love” is on repeat.
Do you stick to a strict diet?
Not really. I eat everything, but in moderation.
What do you usually eat in a day?
For breakfast, I would have bread and fruits. For lunch and dinner, I would eat rice and some protein.
What’s off-limits?
Nothing.
Do you have cheat days? Since I don’t restrict myself to the type of food I eat every day, I don’t necessarily have cheat days. Everything in moderation.
What keeps you motivated?
I respect my body and my sport.
How did the pandemic affect your fitness routine?
I would say this pandemic affected my fitness routine positively. I was able to really focus on and assess myself.
What are your other fitness secrets?
I don’t have any fitness secrets, but I believe meditation helps me stay focused and driven despite the challenges we’re facing today.
