For actress and fitness coach Michelle Madrigal, it is not only motivation that can get one far in fitness, because discipline and training also play important roles.
Madrigal joined a fitness competition, Hyrox America, in Austin, Texas and she is proud of this achievement, as seen on her Instagram page yesterday, May 23, where she posted a short video of the competition.
“Came 5th in my age group and finished at 1:43:14,” Madrigal proudly announced. “If you know me, I have never competed in anything that has to do with fitness. Heck I didn’t play any sports growing up. But at some point in life, I fell in love with fitness… I’ve tried most of it! You name it… Kickboxing, CrossFit, Yoga etc… heck I even ran a 10K with no training.”
Madrigal got into fitness after her father died and when she experienced postpartum depression. While she was motivated to improve herself physically, she took note that “motivation won’t get you far” because people “aren’t always motivated.”
“It’s the discipline that comes with training,” she stressed. “It’s keeping the promises you made to yourself every single day that will take you places. Small micro habits that will change the trajectory of your life.”
Having trained herself to be disciplined, Madrigal’s intention is to see how far she could push her mind and body.
“I am ready to put in the work to improve on my weaknesses for the next competition in Dallas,” she said. JB
