Playing Paula, a single, independent and wacky mom in “Marry Me, Marry You,” is like a whiff of fresh air for new Kapamilya actress Sunshine Dizon.

Dizon did not specifically ask for this light role in the series, which also pairs Janine Gutierrez with Paulo Avelino on TV for the first time. This, Dizon revealed during the online press conference for the series on Sept. 2. Nonetheless, Dizon felt it was a “breather” to play Paula.

“It was refreshing to do something different naman coming from years of heavy, heavy drama. Parang na-excite ako na iba naman (I got excited that it’s different), for a change. Hindi pa nakikita ng tao ang ganitong side ko (Audiences have not seen this side of me yet),” she said.

Meanwhile, the series will premiere on Sept. 11 on the iWantTFC app and on iwanttfc.com. On Sept. 13 at 9:20 p.m., it will start showing on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z and TV5.

Dizon gave credit to her co-star, fellow veteran Cherry Pie Picache, who loved how she delivered her lines during a line-throwing session before the lockdown taping.

“You know what, I owe that to Ms. Pie. Kasi (Because), on our first day we were throwing lines and then napansin ni Ms. Pie kung gaano ako kakulit (she noticed how funny I was) in person, as people assume I am so tahimik (quiet) and I am so serious,” she revealed.

“Sabi ni Ate Pie, ‘Ganyan ka na, todo mo na ‘yan. ‘Yan ka na.’ Sabi ko, ‘talaga ba, ate Pie? Itotodo ko na lang ‘yung natural ko? Eh, di hindi na lang ako aarte, itotodo ko na lang.’ That’s the honest truth,” she said.

(Ate Pie said, “That’s how you should be, give it your all. It’s already who you are.” I said, “Really, Ate Pie? I’ll just go full on being me? Then I will no longer act, I will just give it my all.”)

Also in the cast are Edu Manzano, Teresa Loyzaga, Vina Morales and Jake Ejercito. In supporting roles are Lito Pimentel, Joko Diaz, Jett Pangan, EJ Jallorina, Luis Vera Perez, Fino Herrera, Meanne Espinosa, Mariella Laurel, Adrian Lindayag, and The Squad Plus members Keann Johnson, Analain Salvador and Angelica Lao.
