While his family background instantly makes him a celebrity, being the son of former action star and former Philippine president Joseph “Erap” Estrada, Jake Ejercito still considers himself a newcomer in the acting scene. This makes him value feedback on his acting even more, particularly for the series “Marry Me, Marry You” which is now on its second season.

“I guess the feedback of my parents,” was Ejercito’s answer when asked whose feedback matters to him the most, during the online press conference for the show’s season two, held on Nov. 10.

“Actually, marami silang kino-comment ’coz sinusubaybayan, both my father and my mom. I value their opinion the most. It’s a learning process. Marami pa akong matutunan talaga,” he added.

(Actually, they give me lots of comments because they do watch the show… I still got a lot to learn.)

Ejercito plays Cedric Banez in the series, the best friend of Paulo Avelino’s Andrei character. He and Avelino both fall in love with Camille, the character played by Janine Gutierrez.

Although the role may be offbeat for him, Ejercito welcomes any character that would test his versatility.

“I guess as an actor I would like to explore different roles para ma-challenge ko rin ang sarili ko (so I can challenge myself). I am open to any roles naman, bida or kontrabida (protagonist or antagonist). Na-enjoy ko rin (I also enjoyed) playing Cedric,” he said.

When asked how he can assess his acting so far, Ejercito said he can’t be satisfied.

“I guess you’ll never be happy sa ginawa mo. If anything, siguro natutunan kong mahalin, parang na-enjoy ko siya which I guess is more important,” he thought.

(I guess you’ll never be happy with what you’ve accomplished. If anything, maybe what I learned is how to love [what I did], it’s like I enjoyed it, which I guess is more important.)

Ejercito also thanked his co-stars, particularly Gutierrez and Avelino.

“They were really helpful, encouraging and approachable. They really made me comfortable as a newcomer,” he said.

The couple Andrei and Camille (Avelino and Gutierrez) will jumpstart a fresh chapter in their lives while facing their relationship’s ultimate test in the second season of “Marry Me, Marry You,” which opened last Monday, Nov. 15 at an earlier time slot, 8:40 p.m., on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, and TV5. Fans can also view episodes via iWantTFC, WeTV iFlix, The Filipino Channel and IPTV. JB
