Broadcaster Bernadette Sembrano admits she is not gifted with a green thumb and she feels that she is a hit-or-miss when it comes to keeping her plants stay alive.
Sembrano shared her planting experience in her Instagram page last Friday, May 9, showing off her orchid in a photo.
“I don’t intentionally kill plants but they die on me — Pero matiyaga ako (But I am patient),” she said, noting that she’s also “stubborn.”

“This orchid – I just keep watering the it – not really sure if it’s simply hibernating or in a state of coma,” she said. To her surprise, she saw it bloom last Friday. With that, she felt there is hope.
“I realize that plants are like children… some thrive with little supervision, others can seem hopeless but you just keep watering them with [tender loving care],” she said, asking her followers to be patient, relentless, to just love, give, care and be kind.
“Take it one morning, one day at a time. Discard the weeds each day. Water the plants. Move them around to get more sun (or less sun),” she said, noting that all plants should be taken care of “just differently.”
In case the plants do not survive, Sembrano advised fans to “never be disheartened.”
“Whether tanggapin ang pagmamahal o Hindi …Ang mahalaga – nagmahal. At Hindi [susuko]. Ever,” she said. (Whether your love is accepted or not, what is important is you loved. And you do not give up. Ever.) JB
