Secret Fresh has a series of fascinating exhibitions at Art Fair Philippines this weekend. There’s Yeo Kaa’s I Don’t Know, Baby, Christian Tamondong’s Clusterf*ck, and their Ice Cream Shoppe. And some three kilometers away from The Link, at their main space in Ronac Lifestyle Center, Secret Fresh is opening a marvelous exhibit by Ronald Ventura. And there’s a cute big dog—yes, he doesn’t bite—that wants to play with you there.

Titled Bobro’s World, this is the artist’s first solo exhibit at Secret Fresh. In an Instagram post by Secret Fresh’s Bigboy Cheng, he gives us a glimpse of the installation that’ll welcome you to the exhibit. It’s a massive installation of a bulldog lying on the floor. His mouth is wide open and we can see his tongue resting on the floor. Perhaps it’s a show of excitement as he plays with a golden bone. There are other colorful bones all over the place, but this isn’t Bobro’s World yet.
In a video by Bigboy, it looks like gallery visitors will enter through the dog’s mouth before we see what Bobro’s world really is. Isn’t it extra?

Based on Bigboy’s posts, it looks like Ronald will exhibit paintings with dogs as subject. This doesn’t come as a surprise as dogs among other beastly creatures usually figure their way into a Ronald Ventura work.
Bobro’s World by Ronald Ventura is co-curated by Ruel Caasi. It opens at Secret Fresh Gallery at 6:30 p.m. tonight (Feb. 23) and runs until next month. Check out the poster below for details.
