I went to Kuala Lumpur with the AirAsia Super App, here’s how it went | Lifestyle.INQ

For some, planning your travel itinerary can be the stressful part of what should be a relaxing experience. Scouring the internet and comparing site after site, finding the best deals for flights and accommodations can be tiresome and time-consuming.

But thanks to the AirAsia Super App, planning your next holiday has never been easier. The App is set to become the traveler’s go-to for their end-to-end travel bookings by allowing its users to book flights, hotels and travel packages, activities, car rides, and parcel deliveries. You can even shop for food, clothes, and other products at lower prices in one integrated platform. With over 700 airlines to compare prices for more than 3,000 destinations, you no longer need to go site to site trying to find the best deals.

We had the privilege of having the Super App experience ourselves on our trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to witness a symbolic signing ceremony with over 50 key hotel groups across the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia.

The almost 4-hour flight from Manila to Kuala Lumpur was nothing short of a breeze.

We were assisted by the friendliest ground crew from the check-in counter until we were ready to board, where we were taken care of by the most accommodating crew the entire flight. Added points for me was the surprisingly tasty meal (for airplane food) that we had– Uncle Chin’s Chicken rice, a Chinese Malaysian favorite, which was warm, savory, and juicy. This add-on is available upon pre-booking your ticket.

Upon arrival in Malaysia, we started our journey to head to our hotel. Finding a transfer service used to be one of the challenges tourists faced when arriving in a foreign country. Deciding which mode of transportation to take while making sure you aren’t conned by raised prices can be a little daunting. But with AirAsia Super App, you can pre-book your transfer service to and from the airport even before you land.

We stayed at The Chow Kit – An Ormund Hotel located at the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The hotel was named by The New York Times as One of the 52 Places to Go in 2020 and Malaysia’s Best Boutique Hotel by the World Traveler Awards in 2022. The Chow Kit is perfect for the contemporary traveler with its offers of simplified luxury with its interiors and services. This hotel is one of the 50 new hoteliers included in the signing mass signing ceremony held by AirAsia.

The ceremony held at De.Wan 1958 by Chef Wan @ The Linc KL, marks the boost of room inventories to “AirAsia hotels” opening the doors for its users to have access to a vast hotel directory. As a hotel booking platform, the app hosts over 700,000 hotels worldwide for its customers to choose from, with perks and rewards for its users to earn and redeem points to pair with their flights and hotel booking. Very soon, Super App will also be launching a ‘Best Price Guaranteed’ scheme to guarantee the best hotel prices on the platform aside from special members’ rates.

For hotel partners, the AirAsia Super App brings great value since they are able to bank on AirAsia’s strong brand presence and network, aside from its daily active user database of 1.25 million. This enables them to avail more marketing opportunities and visibility for each hotel partner while offering them extremely competitive rates.

“When the travel industry was in full force, we were flying 100 million guests just on the AirAsia network alone, which translates into a valuable customer base. This customer base is something that no other online travel agent (OTA) can offer aside from the AirAsia Super App because we are the only travel super app that also owns an airline group. With the revival of travel now and the capability of the AirAsia Super App’s strength as an online travel agent (OTA) – reinforcing our hotel booking platform is crucial to capture and fulfill market demand.” Tony Fernandes, CEO of Capital A, proudly says.

“It’s all about having a complete travel ecosystem that would create better value for our customers. And being an OTA which owns an airline allows us to offer products such as SNAP – our flight + hotel combo platform, creating better uptake for our hotel partners while providing travelers a better booking experience,” added Fernandes.

Among the 50 hoteliers included in the signing were three hotel groups from the Philippines – Okada Manila, Newport World Resorts, and Acacia Hotel Manila.
