Here, kitty kitty. Hello, Kathryn.

For Scout’s 35th issue—the Growing Up issue—Kathryn’s co-stars aren’t your usual showbiz fodder (sorry, Daniel). This time, it’s Bambino (a furless Elf, a Sphynx and American curl mix) and Moki (a Persian ragdoll).

Here you’ll see Kathryn as you’ve never seen her before, draped in fur (well, cat fur) and Toqa. This is a grown-up Kathryn, who wears her maturity proudly, frankly confessing to Scout that her plans for the future may not necessarily include show business.

Considered one of the biggest stars of our generation, Kathryn literally grew up with us. Admittedly, her maturation unfolded on the small screen and ours, well… do YouTube confessionals shot on a shoddy desktop cam count?

In this issue, Kathryn dishes on the lessons she learned from show business and what’s next on her agenda.

As we celebrate Pride Month, we also talk to Fil-Am creative Pedro Vidallon a.k.a. Tito Vida on how he, along with his fellow Slaysians, created a safe space for people of color and the LGBTQ+ community in New York.

We also explore the candy-colored universe of artist Yeo Kaa, the resurgence of cassette tapes, grown-up baon ideas, and the magical performance of The Kooks at the recent Wanderland Music and Arts Festival.

This issue is also about the ties we make, sustain, and lose as we grow up. Three writers recall the times they spent on the school bus service, while Scout writer Rogin Losa reconnects with a childhood friend to examine the idea of LDR in the context of friendship. Finally: OFW chronicles with young adults who grew up under the specter of absent parents toiling overseas.
