Here’s how AirAsia is expanding in PH through online shops, food delivery and e-wallet | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

If there’s anything the pandemic has brought out in some companies, it’s flexibility.

After branching out into food delivery in Malaysia, low-cost airline AirAsia has launched its e-commerce platform airasia shop in the Philippines. Through this platform, customers can buy global products that are delivered to their homes via AirAsia’s logistics venture Teleport. The airline company is also looking forward to bringing in AirAsia Food and BigPay, an e-wallet similar to GCash, next.

“I hope AirAsia Food will be launched in the Philippines in the not-too-distant future,” says AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes.

AirAsia Food first launched in Malaysia last year after the company had to ground flights due to mobility restrictions. The zero-commission model and return of conditional movement control in Malaysia led to a 1,150 percent rise in the number of orders from the company in October, generating a more than 500 percent increase in sales.

As part of its online shop’s launching campaign in the Philippines, a 50 percent discount on selected items and free door-to-door delivery through Teleport will be available from Jan. 14 to Jan. 31. AirAsia’s Piso sale promo is also running until Jan. 17.
