Students, you don't need to pay airport terminal fee starting today

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Picture this: You’re at the airport check-in for that long-awaited summer vacation. Right after depositing your baggage, there’s one little detail delaying you from Instagram-ing away in paradisethe airport terminal fee. That was the case on my way to a Disneyland trip, at least. For people in school, this is now a thing of the past.

Starting Aug. 1, students are now exempt from paying terminal fees. The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) released a memorandum on Thursday, effectively waiving the fee for those currently enrolled in pre-school to college, as well as vocational schools and training centers.

To get exempted, all you need to do is apply for a student exemption certificate at airport Malasakit Help Desks. Fill up the application, and submit it together with a photocopy of your valid school ID and/or school registration form.

Until airlines are able to facilitate this exemption online, help desks will also serve as refund counters for August flights and beyond.

So go ahead and plan that quick getaway. Term breaks are just around the corner, and paradise awaits.
