BIJUTSU: Celebrating Filipino fine art in Japan

Twelve Filipino contemporary artists are set to conquer Japan this October with an art exhibition aptly dubbed as BIJUTSU- a Japanese word that means “fine art.”

 The group led by Mylene Quito, an art leader and exhibition organizer, shares that this exhibition will bring forth and showcase the rich and diverse world of Philippine fine art in Toyono Gallery  Vitokuras , one of Osaka’s reputable art galleries.  The exhibit will run from October 11 to 20, 2024. 

 The collection best represents the uniqueness of each of the participating artists.  Ms.Quito who herself is also a respected artist in the Philippine art scene, shares that the selection will vary from traditional pottery to contemporary  masterpieces. 

 The Osaka-bound group, composed of Allen V. Sanchez, Angelie Banaag, Ann Theresa E. Bolos, Art Lozano, Arturo Arsega Jr., Bing Famoso, Daniel Dumaguit, Franklin Cana, Isah Rodillo, TatEs Cannon, Valerie Teng, and Mylene Quito, will bring their unique perspectives and techniques to the canvas, celebrating the country’s artistry in the land of the rising sun.

“We invite our friends, collectors, art enthusiasts to join us in celebrating this cultural exchange as we collaborate with Toyono Gallery Vitokuras  210-1 Yoshikaya,Toyono-cho, Toyono-gun   in Osaka Japan,” says Ms. Quito.  Ms. Quito hopes that Filipino art will endear to the Japanese who are also known to be lovers of art and beauty.
