Was it a product launch? An art exhibit? A fashion show?
Well, all three, as Dell recently launched its XPS 13 Ultrabook at the Mind Museum in Taguig City.
The Central Saint Martins-trained and LOOK of Style Awards’ Most Promising Designer winner Pablo Ragay-Cabahug was commissioned by Dell to interpret the XPS 13 Ultrabook through fashion. He presented a capsule collection that took inspiration from the Ultrabook’s aesthetics: sleek aluminum and fiber exterior; striking thinness (6mm at its thinnest, 18mm at its thickest); weight (1.36 kg); 13.3-inch screen protected by Gorilla Glass and enhanced by 720-pixel display.
“I incorporated a representation of the techno-usability, color, thinness and lightweight property of the Dell laptop into my designs. They surprisingly blended well with the collection,” said Cabahug.
The collection’s eight pieces centered on comfort, convenience and uncompromising style, in a palette of black, gray and metallic gray and in materials ranging from sequined fabric to silk chiffon, taffeta, jerseys and stretched tulle.
“These can be worn to the office, or at a party. The colors are tech-oriented and professional, and the woman who wears these clothes feels comfortable because the materials used are sheer and light,” said Cabahug.
With their advanced design and engineering, electronic gadgets like laptops can be sexy too, he added.
His XPS 13-inspired collection proved it. Gadgets can amp their style quotient without having to set aside their original function—to make life easier. Technology never looked this good.
