Due to route disruption caused by the pandemic, SM Foundation (SMFI) has donated Kalinga packs to 24,000 jeepney, tricycle and UV Express drivers across the country. Each pack contained 5kg of rice and other food essentials.
This is part of the foundation’s Oplan Tulong Express (OPT), a program that aims to quickly respond to the needs of Filipinos affected by calamities and other crises and is in collaboration with SM Supermalls and SM Markets.
SMFI donates ventilators
Besides distributing Kalinga packs, the SMFI has also donated 25 ICU-grade ventilators to hospitals with large numbers of COVID-19 patients.
Some of their hospital recipients include Calamba Doctors Hospital in Laguna, Tarlac Provincial Hospital in Tarlac City, General Emilio Aguinaldo Hospital and Northern Mindanao Medical Center among others.
The foundation is known to be the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of the SM group of companies. It is focused on serving the underprivileged and underserved communities across the country.
