MONEY is one of the best ways to help the victims, but make sure you are giving cash to people and organizations you trust.

 

Here are some options:

 

Philippine Red Cross

 

Donate to the Red Cross using its website https://ushare.redcross.org.ph or through text. Send RED<space>AMOUNT to 2899 (Globe) or 4143 (Smart). Call the Red Cross hotline at 143 or the trunkline 5270000.

 

United Nations Children’s Fund

 

Help the children affected by Supertyphoon “Yolanda” by donating through the Unicef website https://donate.unicef.ph. Your P1,500 can help provide seven families with water jugs and water purification solution for a month’s supply of safe drinking water. P3,300 can be used to provide 15 people with essential hygiene supplies including soap, towels, pails, toothbrushes and toothpaste. P5,000 can be used to create a child-friendly space for 35 kids in an evacuation center, with recreational materials to help them recover. You can also choose to donate any amount you wish.

 

Philippine Daily Inquirer

Use the website https://www.wfp.org/ donate/typhoon to donate using Paypal or your credit card. The money will be used to provide emergency food assistance to families and children in affected areas. The World Food Programme continues to bring food including high-energy biscuits and rice to the typhoon victims.

Singapore

 

A group of Filipinos in Singapore is collecting relief goods—clothes, basic medicines, nonpersishable and ready-to-eat food. Drop-off point is The Hoffman Agency office at 331 North Bridge Road, #10-06 Odeon Towers, Singapore 188720. Meet-ups can also be arranged at the Tampines area. Contact Miko Cabuyadao at (+65)97677095. Asia Pacific Cargo, a forwarding company owned by a Filipino, gave them a discount to send the goods to Manila. They will be sending over the donations to Sagip Kapamilya, Solar Media Center and other organizations in the Philippines.

SM

 

SM Supermalls are opening their 48 malls to accept donations for typhoon victims. Head to your favorite SM mall and look for the Operation Tulong Express booth. You can donate cash, medicine, blankets, food and water.

 

SM has also launched Donate a Bag. You can purchase food packs from SM Hypermarket for P100, and these food packs will be sent to typhoon victims through SM Foundation in coordination with the DSWD. Ayala Malls

 

Ayala Malls are accepting donations through the concierge counters in their malls. They are accepting cash, food, bottled water (preferably in 500 ml bottles), packed biscuits, canned and pouched food that are easy to open, milk, 3-in-1 coffee, clothes, underwear, blankets, towels, soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpastes, sanitary napkins, detergent.

 

Jollibee

 

All Jollibee stores in the Philippines are accepting canned goods, medicines, blankets, clothes, hygiene kits and bottled water that their customers would like to share with the affected communities.

 

HELP REPACK DONATIONS

 

Because of the high number of volunteers, it is best to call these places to get your schedule unless they specify that walk-ins are welcome.

 

Pasay City

 

The DSWD is accepting volunteers who wish to repack at the DSWD National Resource Operations Center, Chapel Road, Pasay City (near Naia 1 and 2). Their operations run 24 hours a day. Shifts are from

8 a.m. to 12 noon, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., 6 p.m. to midnight, 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. Their schedule is already full until the 18th. Call 8512681 to book your time slot.

 

The DSWD is repacking at Villamor Air Base, too, at the multipurpose hall. Call Director Ping Shalim at 0917-8195086, 8535128, 8535003, 8534944, 8534995 and 8535057.

 

Quezon City

Mandaluyong

Myth in Greenbelt 5 will be donating 100 percent of the sales of selected designer pieces until Nov. 30.

 

For the whole month of November, Suelas promises to donate a pair of shoes for every pair purchased at any of its branches—Alabang Town Center, Centrio Mall in Cagayan de Oro and Ayala Center Cebu. For more info, visit www.suelasonline.com.

Katipunan Bayanihan, happening on Nov. 19 at 47 East Katipunan, Quezon City, will sell preloved or barely used clothes and other items. 100 percent of proceeds will go to rebuilding efforts.

 

Bianca Gonzales and Liz Uy are selling their preloved, slightly used shoes—YSL, Miu Miu and more—for P15,000 each. The money will be used to send body bags directly to Samar and Leyte. La Pomme makes adorable Sleep Angels, soft dolls with a sprinkling of sweet-smelling lavender flowers from France. They are the perfect bed companions. Each one is P650, but La Pomme doesn’t want you to give them the money—they want you to send the cash to an established organization working to send relief goods to the affected areas. E-mail the receipt, the deposit slip or proof of donation and your address to [email protected] and they will send you your angel.

 

EAT

 

Yabu did it last Wednesday —all their branches donated 100 percent of their profits to the relief efforts. A number of other restaurants and food businesses have pledged to do the same—donate all or a portion of their proceeds on certain days to the typhoon victims. If you are eating out, you might want to do so at these places.

 

Aracama

 

Aracama Bonifacio Global City will donate a portion of its sales today to the victims of  Yolanda through the Philippine Red Cross.

 

Sebastian’s

 

Sebastian’s Artistan Ice Cream’s branches will donate 20 percent of their sales to the Philippine Red Cross for the entire month of November.

 

Bizu

 

Eat breakfast, lunch or dinner at Bizu’s different branches (Greenhills Promenade, Greenbelt 2, One Rockwell, Alabang Town Center, St. Luke’s Global, Le Petit Bizu at Robinsons Magnolia, Zigla! at Robinsons Magnolia and Siraulo Café at Pinto Gallery in Antipolo) on Nov. 17. They will donate 100 percent of their proceeds on this day to St. Paul’s Hospital in Tacloban and to the relief efforts for the victims of the typhoon.

 

Magnum Opus Fine Coffee Gallery

 

Magnum Opus Fine Coffee Gallery will be giving away free coffee in exchange for a mandatory donation in either cash or kind. Donations accepted are biscuits, easy-open canned goods, medicines, boxed milk, bottled water and batteries.

P5 of every Bronuts cronut sold until Dec. 1 will be donated to the typhoon victims. You can find Bronuts at Rockwell Power Plant Mall’s Baker’s Dozen from Fridays to Sundays.

 

Skinny Mike’s

 

For the entire month of November, Skinny Mike’s will be selling its wings at P15 per wing. P5 will go to the Red Cross for the victims of Yolanda. Skinny Mike’s is at 32nd Street corner Justice Drive, Bonifacio Global City.

Mary Grace Café is donating 100 percent of the sales of their ensaymada and cheeserolls on Nov. 17 and 18. DK Comics and Pinoy Colorists Group will hold a charity drive through a drawing event. Have your favorite characters sketched and colored, and all proceeds from the event will be given to the Philippine Red Cross. Filipino fashion designers, models, fashion directors Jackie Aquino and Robby Carmona are storming the runways to raise funds to benefit Leyte and Samar relief operations. The event will be held on Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. at the Samsung Hall at SM Aura Premier BGC. Tickets to the fundraiser will be sold at the venue entrance.

 

The upcoming EDM festival United Republiq will be donating all proceeds to the victims of the typhoon. Producers Worldwide Womb and Driven, along with their sponsors Viber and Tattoo powered by Globe, will be bringing in international DJs Axwell, Nicky Romero and NO_ID. They will be spinning with local favorite DJs Ace Ramos, Marc Naval, Martin Pulgar and Mars Miranda on Nov. 21 at the Mall of Asia open grounds at 6 p.m. for this Electronic Music Assembly for a Cause.
