MANILA, Philippines — British Ambassador to the Philippines Daniel Pruce celebrates his Christmas by cooking the traditional Filipino food, “bibingka.”
In a video posted Tuesday, Pruce shared his first attempt to recreate the Filipino rice cake with help from a professional chef identified as Chef Jomar.
“Pasko na naman! Christmas in the Philippines won’t be complete without bibingka. Join Ambassador @DanielPruce as he tries his hand at cooking this traditional Filipino Christmas food,” British Embassy Manila’s official Twitter wrote.

The British envoy made the bibingka batter with rice flour, coconut milk, sugar, eggs, and baking powder.
He then poured the batter in a container with banana leaves and baked over live coals in a clay oven.
When the cake was cooked, he sprinkled some grated coconut and sugar.
Pruce compared his work over Chef Jomar’s, pointing out that his cake tasted good but lacked in “presentation.”
“Mine perhaps lacks a little bit in terms of presentation, so it’s really good,” he said.
As the video came to a close, Pruce greeted the Filipinos a “Merry Christmas.”/lb
