Actor Dave Bornea admits anxiety hit him hard during the pandemic, but he prevailed over it by giving online dance lessons, upon a friend’s advice.

“Lahat naman po yata ay hindi nakalusot sa anxiety, lahat naman po yata ay nakaranas din dahil po sa pandemic,” Bornea said during the launch of the digital series “GVBOYS: Pangmalakasang Good Vibes” last June 26.

(I think all of us were not spared from anxiety. All of us experienced it because of the pandemic.)

“Ang ginawa ko lang din, sinayaw ko na lang since may talent naman tayo at hobby ko ang sumayaw. Nagturo ako ng dance class through online. ‘Yun ang nagpagaan ng pandemic life ko. Kasi may mga friends din ako sa dance community. Sila ang pagpu-push sa akin na ‘how about na magturo ka naman,’” he revealed.

(What I did was dance it all away, since I have it as a talent and it is my hobby. I gave online dance lessons. That made my pandemic life easier. I have friends in the dance community who were the ones pushing me, asking, “How about teaching dance?”)

Bornea was encouraged since there were fans who wanted to join his class although they’re not really into dancing. That inspired him all the more to teach.

Meanwhile, in “GVBOYS: Pangmalakasang Good Vibes,” Bornea portrays a character very different from his personality.

“May pagka-feminine, baliktad sa character ko (He’s a bit feminine, it’s the opposite of my character) in real life,” he noted.

The series is inspired by the classic sitcom “Palibhasa Lalaki” top-billed by Richard Gomez, John Estrada and Joey Marquez. Bornea feels his role is very interesting because it sparks curiosity among other characters played by Nikko Natividad and Jerom Ponce.

“Parang gustong hulihin ng mga boys kung ano ba talaga ako. Sa dulo, doon talaga nila malalaman kung ano talaga ang pagkatao ko,” he said. (It’s like the boys want to find out the real me. In the end, they will know.)

“GVBOYS: Pangmalakasang Good Vibes” will stream on the Puregold’s Facebook page and YouTube channel starting Saturday, July 10. JB
