Google is ready to help you find you that song (just sing it) | Lifestyle.INQ

There’s no greater itch than a mouthful of lyrics or melody hanging at the tip of your tongue. From random supermarket radio finds to that track played on your sister’s favorite station (but you had to get off the car ASAP), lost songs leave quite a frustrating mark. It’s like meeting someone you vibe with, but you forget to ask their name.

To our benefit, Google considers this high-key relatable. According to Variety, Google’s new feature gives us the power to track down the title of that song stuck in our head. There’s one condition though: You have to participate.

Head to the Google app (or Google Search widget) on mobile, tap the mic icon and say “What’s this song?” or click the “Search a song” button. Give the bot some time to think (because they might be tired like all of us), keep your eyes open for this moment of relief then check if the results match the memory in your head.

“Users can then select the best match and explore information on the song and artist, view any accompanying music videos or listen to the song on a music app, find the lyrics, read analysis or even check out other recordings of the song if they’re available,” says Vulture.

In case you’re wondering, I tried it myself. After three tries, the AI finally identified that I was singing Britney Spears’ “…Baby One More Time.” Aside from showing me the title of the song, it also revealed a Britney video with the title “My Loneliness is Killing Me,” the first line I sang from the song. I guess that’s not bad.

Look, you can always type in the lyrics you remember on Google if you don’t want some effort from your vocal cords. But you know what, we’re here for the fun. (Shoutout to Spotify’s lyrics search feature, too.)
