A recent project replacing the roof of the Spanish-era cemetery chapel of Pototan town in Iloilo has caught the attention of heritage advocates as it is said to have veered away from the original design of the structure.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has suspended the road-widening project at a section of the Iloilo-Capiz Road in Ajuy town, sparing for the meantime the heritage house maintained by cultural heritage specialist Eric Zerrudo, vice chair of the Philippine Unesco Commission.
