Education Secretary Bro. Armin A. Luistro, FSC, and Commission on Higher Education Commissioner Minerva Alarcon will keynote the 1st San Agustin National Research and Education Conference on Nov. 27-29 at the University of San Agustin-Iloilo Auditorium.
With the theme “Philippine Higher Education and Research in the Knowledge Society,” the three-day conference will consist of six plenary talks to be given by noted speakers covering topics in Social Science and Humanities, Natural Science, Technology and Innovation, and Education.
Speakers include former education undersecretary Isagani Cruz; University of Santo Tomas Graduate School professor and Metrobank Oustanding Teacher Allan B. de Guzman; former UST College of Science dean Fortunato B. Sevilla III; University of St. La Salle Guidance and Evaluation Center director Rowena V. Banes; and women’s and children’s rights advocate Evalyn G. Ursua.
In line with the University’s celebration of its 60th Anniversary as the first university in the Western Visayas, the conference hopes to provide a venue “to generate and share knowledge on new issues affecting Philippine education, current trends in science and technology, cultural heritage and other social institutions.”
Aside from the plenary presentations of the invited speakers, 22 papers will be presented. Ten to 20 research posters will be on exhibit.
