Potato Corner’s plan to save the industry: Waived franchise fee, 145K startup business | F&B Report

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Good news, small entrepreneurs! Potato Corner is now waiving its franchise fee until the end of December 2020 to give small businesses access to the brand and help them cope with the onslaught of the pandemic. To meet its objectives, Potato Corner has come up with three franchise packages and formats for starting industry players.

School cart (P145,000)

Includes a three-year contract, with a minimum space of four square meters required. The original franchise fee of P100,000 is waived.

Customized package (P128,000 plus construction cost)

Includes a five-year contract but a 2.5-meter high space for design roofing is required. The original franchise fee of P100,000 is waived.

Standard cart (P263,000)

Includes a five-year contract but requires a minimum space of four square meters with a height of 2.4 square meters. The original franchise fee of P150,000 is waived.

Aside from selecting the right investment and finding a good franchise location, novice entrepreneurs should note that the key to a successful business is a customer-driven approach. Potato Corner CEO Jose Magsaysay believes in marketing to kids, saying that the same children who patronized them when they were starting out as a “small hole in the wall” are now their partners simply because they love the brand and want to help expand it.

Known as “The World’s Best Fries,” Potato Corner has over 1,100 stores in the Philippines and more than 200 locations overseas. The brand is making its presence felt in some of the world’s most popular cities including New York, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Las Vegas, and Sydney.

What started as a small kiosk in 1992 with a P35,000 investment from each of its four business partners is now a growing business with annual sales of P1 billion.
