You must’ve heard, dahlings, that the old-rich enclave that is Wack Wack has been redeveloped to adapt to the changing times. Well, not the entire neighborhood, but a portion of it.

The Address at Wack Wack, an upscale and elegant 32-story residential condominium, was recently launched with Mandaluyong City Mayor Benhur Abalos as guest of honor.

This latest landmark is a project of the Madrigal-Bayot Development Corporation (MBDC), led by its president Francisco “Jun” Madrigal Bayot Jr. and his son, vice president for marketing Francisco “Paco” T. Bayot.

Visiting a friend who owns a unit at The Address, I marveled at the scenic view of the fairways of Wack Wack Golf and Country Club and the Makati skyline.

The architectural and design masterpiece is a showcase of class, elegance and superior quality, along with the highest standards of security—being located on the exclusive Wack Wack Road.

At the lobby you can see its double-height ceiling, walls made of onyx marble and travertine from Turkey, and flooring made of white volakas marble from Greece, accented with black marble from India. That’s like being welcomed like royalty, palangga.

Satisfied unit owners include Swedish Match Philippines chair Cornelio Mapa, Proview president Michael Rivera and Lexus Manila Inc. sales director Spencer Yu. In a joint statement, the three said that “life at The Address has exceeded our expectations. Great location, great amenities, and a trusted name for a developer… What more can anyone ask for in a place to live in?”

Sofitel’s Remarkable Mothers

BEA’S proud famille and relatives gather to celebrate her achievements.
REMARKABLE Mother awardee: Citi’s Bea Tan shares the secret to her continued success.

It was one memorable day for Citi Philippines managing director and consumer banking head Bea Teh-Tan when she was recently recognized by Sofitel Philippine Plaza “for her notable industry contributions and excellent fulfillment of her role as a mother,” no less.

A proud mother to two sons and one daughter, Bea bagged the honor as one of Sofitel’s Remarkable Mothers along with seven other outstanding awardees.

Bea credited her success to “God, my very supportive husband, my three children, and the extraordinary team of dedicated men and women from Citi.”

During the awards ceremonies, Sofitel also unveiled the “Mother’s Legacy Fashion Show” featuring Ryan Madamba’s Abelissimo Collection. This renowned wedding gown designer had his pieces modeled by Bea and the other awardees, Natividad Alejo, Cristina Garcia, Merlee Jayme, Mel Lerma, Rizalina Mantaring, Debbie Namalata and Mildred Vitangcol.

Reading Bea’s credentials, the event host said: “Ms Tan joined Citi in 1998 and has held a variety of roles including strategic planning head, and head for cards marketing, sales and distribution. She has been instrumental in driving the growth of Citi’s consumer banking business by retaining its top market position in credit cards.

“She also launched Citi’s PayLite Installment platform which is now widely used by Asia-Pacific countries offering installment facilities, and other award-winning products. She forged key partnerships with other industry leaders and, as a result, Citi has an enviable portfolio of credit card products as well as personal loans today.

“Ms Tan is also recognized as one of the most promising young talents in the financial services industry by The Asian Banker. She was awarded in 2008 as one of the best bankers under the age of 40 in Asia Pacific and Gulf Region.”

Now, whoever said that banking is a man’s world must be chewing his nails, dahlings.

Why golf?

I once asked an avid golfer friend of mine why he loves playing the sport, and this is what he said: “I thought by now you’d know that business executives will always talk golf at the office, and business on the golf course.”

Which brings us to the Aviva Pacific Golf Corporation’s first golf tournament, held at Sta. Elena Golf Club, palangga.

Aviva Pacific Golf Corp. is the distributor of Adidas golf apparel and shoes as well as Taylormade golf equipment.

The weather was fine at the tee-off led by Aviva CEO Sherwin Hing, COO Jesus “Chucho” Martinez III and Taylormade-Adidas Singapore sales director for Asia-Pacific Simon Sim, no less.

The tournament was held through the support of presenter PLDT Home Fibr and partners Jewelmer, Autohub Rolls Royce, Airbus, among others.

The fun continued with a 19th-hole celebration and awarding at Sta. Elena’s clubhouse hosted by Bianca Valerio and Rovilson Fernandez.

A special musical performance by Bea Tantoco and the Sauce delighted the golfers and guests.

The grand winners were: Ladies Division champion Eden Hernandez; Class C Division champion Aberlardo Mondoñedo; Class B champion Rio Venturanza; and Class A division champion Juami Rocha.

The Lowest Gross title went to Jason Barcelon, while Overall Net champion was Marvin Capparos.

Here’s looking forward to the second Aviva golf tournament to be held sometime in February 2015, palangga.
