We often look to celebrities for inspiration for a great hairstyle. A large percent of Filipino women admitted to bringing a picture of a celebrity’s hairstyle and requesting that hairstyle when getting a haircut in a salon.
The hair stylist may sometimes get the cut, but for some reason, you never really end up walking out with Blake Lively hair. Yes, there is a reason why we should listen to stylists when they insist that the haircut is not right for your face shape.
So here’s a tip: Drop your old salon and try something new. If you’ve been going to the same salon for ages, and been cut by the same hair stylist, then you should consider trying a new salon, even just this once.
No doubt we always have our favorites, but in my field, I’ve had the chance of being styled and made up by new makeup artist and hairdressers for each shoot.
I always look forward to working with someone new because s/he would always have a new take on my face, and I would end up looking entirely different, and that is a good thing.
So don’t let that last traumatic haircut leave you with one look for the rest of your life. Try a new salon and get a brand new hairdo.
If you have the budget, try a senior stylist. Remember, hair stylists are very creative people. When they look at us, they see a blank canvas. They’ll always have a fresh take on a new face.
A new hair stylist will always bring about fresh change in your look.

Speaking of my favorites, Lourd Ramos, a longtime hair stylist and makeup artist, has helped put together a new posh salon in Manila. He is the creative director for Fab Salon at the Newport mall in Resorts World (tel. 632-8220004).
Lourd has mentored many young artists. At Fab Salon, he taught the staff how to have a very good balance of technological know-how and an updated sense for new styling trends and coloring techniques.
So as you sit in the salon and hear scissors snipping away or see the color changing on your hair stands, you can sit back and relax because the transformation you’re undergoing has been taught by a master.
At Fab Salon, stylists have attended a two-month training at the Tesda-registered BSC Technological Institute. The seminar is 30-percent lecture and 70-percent practical. Hands-on applications were carried out on actual volunteers.
In addition, the staff also honed their technical skills at the training offices of the brands that Fab Salon carries, such as Wella, Schwarzkopf, L’Oreal, Matrix, Revlon and Davines.
Their knowledge is then distilled and integrated by Lourd Ramos.
Fab Salon is a professional, full-service salon for both men and women. The salon was conceptualized to cater to a market that does not want to compromise quality for affordability.
But more than anything else, Fab Salon prides itself in providing excellent service and customer satisfaction.
Of course, the only way its claim can be proven is actual trial. So if you’re a creature of habit, as we all are, you should take a break from the monotony and try something new and exciting. Try Fab Salon and see if it is indeed a cut above the rest.
