The Philippine Postal Corp. (PHLPost) on Thursday announced that it would release this month limited edition commemorative stamps featuring Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.
The stamps, which show Wurtzbach’s winning moment in the pageant in her royal blue Albert Andrada gown, will feature a special embellishment called “tactile glittery texture embossed” to “enhance the important look and feel of the stamps.”
The glitters are placed on Wurtzbach’s crown.
PHLPost hopes to launch the stamps this month once it acquires the approval and permission from Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. and the Miss Universe Organization.
“The Philippine Postal Corp. takes pride in honoring our very own Ms Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach by immortalizing her with a postage stamp as the third Filipina to win the prestigious and much coveted Miss Universe crown,” Postmaster General Joel Otarra said.
PHLPost will sell 101,000 pieces of regular stamps at P15 each while 5,000 souvenir sheets will cost P40 each.
Wurtzbach will join boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz, Miss Universe 1973 Margarita Moran, and Miss World 2013 Megan Young in the roster of “living legends” who have been featured in stamps. AJH/RC
