She may be passing on her crown two weeks from now, but we are going to see more of outgoing Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.
In a one-on-one interview with ABS-CBN’s Dyan Castillejo, Wurtzbach revealed that she would be extending her stint at the Miss Universe Organization, this time as ambassador.
“I’m ready to pass on the crown to the new winner, and I’m happy and relieved that I will still be working closely with the organization even after I pass on the crown. I’m excited because I’m ready to move forward and to see another girl fulfill her dream,” Wurtzbach said.
“They did mention that to me before I left New York. We’re still finalizing everything now with the legal team of Miss Universe. She (MUO President Paula Shugart) was right, we did talk about that, so I guess I’m staying,” she added, when asked by Castillejo about talks on the ambassadorial post.
After stepping down as Miss Universe later this month, Wurtzbach said she would be staying in the country for the month of February to shoot endorsements before going back to New York.
“I’m very grateful na may kasunod na agad na trabaho, may naka line-up na agad. Actually ‘yung buong February ko puno na (I’m very grateful that I immediately have work afterwards, there’s a line-up already. Actually, my entire February is already full)… After that I’m going back in New York to work, and we’ll see where it goes from there,” she said.
The Filipino titleholder will also appear as special guest in the fifth cycle of the model search “Asia’s Next Top Model.”
The Miss Universe coronation night will be held on Jan. 30 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. YG/JE/rga
