Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz on Friday revealed her top five picks for the upcoming 65th Miss Universe on January 30.
In an interview with Karen Davila on ANC’s “Headstart”, Diaz said that on top of her mind were the women she had already interacted with during Miss Universe events.
She named Miss Universe Canada Siera Bearchell as one, but only if she could lose 8 pounds.
“If Canada could lose 8 pounds, I love her face. Am I right? She’s beautiful,” Diaz said.
She later overturned and said that losing 5 pounds would be fine.
Miss Venezuela Mariam Habach, Miss Dominican Republic Sal Garcia, Miss Thailand Chalita Suansane, and Miss China Li Zenying complete Diaz’s top five as she finds them beautiful and gorgeous.
‘I hope Maxine proves me wrong’
Meanwhile, she said that Maxine Medina, the country’s representative, could make as among the top contenders, but not the winner, because the Philippines is the host country, but hopes she will be proven wrong.
“She cannot be the winner. She can be first runner-up. I hope I’m proven wrong for the first time in my life. I want her to win. I want us to be so proud, but you know, that’s life,” she said.
She said that the host country cannot win.
“I cannot serve lechon and bring it back to my kitchen kasi I’m giving it to you,” she added.
The Miss Universe coronation night will be held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay on January 30. IDL
