I take to Pantone’s annual choice of color the way one reads the horoscope. You can use it as a guide and spice up your routine.
For its Color of the Year 2018, Ultra Violet, I suggest you use it sparingly, rather than making it the focal point.
If you want to update your makeup look with some violet, contrast it with nude or brown tones. Otherwise, you’ll be overdoing it.
If you want to integrate it in your smoky-eye look, work with neutral, earthy shades. I like the pairings found in the Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette in The Glamour Muse.
If you’re using it for a lipstick, choose something in a wine hue so it still looks natural on your lips. I prefer something like Christian Louboutin’s Velvet Matte lipstick in Eton Moi.
Fashion-wise, violet, when done right, can be an interesting pop of color. Heels leaning to a darker shade of violet are good for a night out with a black dress. The same goes if you want something a bit sparkly.
If you want to be discreet, go for pastel violet undergarments. That’s always a good breaker to your standard sets.
You can also opt for some ultra violet at home. Light something like the Mytheresa x Atelier Oblique You Voice Scented Candle. The scent and the color will certainly bring out the positive spirit of ultra violet.
