God? Is that you? Vancouver transit riders could be forgiven for mistaking speaker announcements this summer with the voice of the big G himself, as actor Morgan Freeman becomes the voice of the city’s TransLink.
Often described as Hollywood’s voice of God, Freeman will be greeting transit riders at select SkyTrain stations and bus routes in Vancouver, reminding commuters that they can now use the system’s new tap-to-pay feature, and to mind their manners, reports the Vancouver Sun.
“Hello transit riders. Remember what your mom used to say: Please keep your feet off the furniture. And also remember: You can now tap your Visa to go anywhere TransLink takes you.”
Freeman’s announcements will be broadcast between June 4 and July 29.
According to the report, the collaboration cost TransLink nothing and is part of an ad campaign paid for by Visa Canada. Freeman has been voicing ad campaigns for Visa for years. TransLink’s tap-to-pay feature accepts Visa and Mastercards. JB
