After successfully opening in key cities in Metro Manila and Cebu, and establishing itself as a one-stop family destination for food, fuel and grooming, Landers Superstore has added another treat to complete the shopping experience of its growing members: health and wellness.

Landers recently opened Capital Care Pharmacy, an in-house drugstore where members can avail themselves of medicines, generic or branded, at discounted prices. Capital Care is now open at selected Landers branches, such as ArcoVia City in Pasig, Alabang West and Cebu.

“It actually completes one’s shopping requirements,” says Lowell Yu, chair of Southeast Asia Retail Inc., the company behind Landers Superstore. “Basically, the habit of Filipinos is when they go to the supermarket, they also pass by a pharmacy or drugstore for their vitamins and meds.”

Capital Care has a wide selection of vitamins, medical supplies and medicines, whether prescribed or over-the-counter. Depending on the medicine, says Yu, members can get a discount ranging from five percent to 20 or even 25 percent.

The discount is given not on a per tablet basis, but based on the total number of meds one purchases. For instance, for 20 tablets of 500 mg Biogesic that cost P70, Landers members get a P3.20 discount.

For 10 pieces of Lipitor 20 mg which cost P390, members get a P10.30 discount.

For 10 capsules of Myra E 400 IU costing P117.50, members get a P5.60 discount.

“It’s not a fixed discount compared to other pharmacy’s SRP (suggested retail price), but we give good discounts if you’re a Landers member,” says Manu Cuevas, president of Curepro Plus Inc., which handles the operation of Capital Care together with MedExpress, one of the leading hospital outpatient pharmacies in the Philippines.

MedExpress runs the pharmacies of Makati Medical Center, St. Luke’s and Cardinal Santos Medical Center.

“We are not trying to compete with other drugstores because we are just exclusive to Landers members,” says Cuevas. “Whatever you see in top pharmacy chains, it’s also available at Capital Care. We simply want to pamper Landers members, provide all their needs and get more value from their membership.”

Senior citizen privilege

The newest go-to pharmacy in the metro also capitalizes on giving extra care by going the extra mile, especially for senior citizens.

Yu says there’s no need for the elderly to bring their senior citizen cards because, as a member, their status and profile are automatically in their system.

“They don’t even need to bring their booklet because it’s all in the system,” Yu says. “Whatever they buy, it’s recorded and monitored. It’s very convenient for senior citizens as long as they are members. They automatically get 20-percent off.”

Capital Care also reminds clients of their prescription drugs, such as antibiotics.

“If it’s a prescription drug of 15 days and you bought only for seven days, on your fifth day, they will call you to remind you that you have only two days left to complete your prescription meds. They will do the reminders for you,” says Yu.

The pharmacy has a priority lane for senior citizens, disabled and pregnant women.

Total shopping experience

Capital Care Pharmacy is nestled inside Landers Superstore’s 8,000-sq m vast space. Aside from the pharmacy, Landers houses a coffee shop (Doppio), an American-style diner (Landers Central), bakery (Dough & Co.), barbershop (Federal Barbers) and a gas station (Caltex). All these make Landers Superstore the ultimate one-stop shopping destination.

“In a way, it’s a wholistic lifestyle approach,” says Yu. “We are creating a big value on membership. Beyond what you shop, it’s the other benefits that one enjoys here. We are continuously developing more benefits for our members.”
