In 2003, I first wrote about Warka Adala, a Muslim energy healer from Zamboanga City. This was after observing his simple but effective healing method among relatives and friends I had invited to our ancestral house in San Juan for a healing demonstration, as well as a psychic and healing festival held at SM Megamall.
I had never met him before, and wanted to be sure he had a batting average of at least 75 percent before referring others to him. He proved to be more successful than that.
He healed migraines, arthritis, cysts on the breast, sinusitis, constipation and pain on my wrist.
After his story came out in this column, and a subsequent interview on my DZMM radio program, many patients came to see him. He did not have a place to treat patients, transferring from one place to another and relying on the generosity of grateful patients.
Soon he was able to rent an apartment on Kamias Street in Quezon City, where he stayed for several years.
He now heals at Rothman Inn on Adriatico, Malate.
His method of healing is simply “laying of hands,” similar to what Jesus Christ did over 2,000 years ago. There are no elaborate rituals or prayers involved. For want of a better term, I just refer to his method as energy healing.
Reputation
His reputation as a healer has spread nationwide and abroad. He has traveled to Poland and Morocco, and was on the cover of the Polish edition of my book, “Magicians of God.”
The fortunate people healed by Warka reported feeling either hot or cold when he placed his hand over the affected area. His hand stayed for five to 15 minutes, depending on the gravity of the case. Almost all fell asleep while his hand was on their body.
Warka has healed leg and knee pain, heart problems, a brain tumor, depression, anxiety disorder, colon, intestinal and kidney problems, glaucoma, diabetes and many more.
Warka was born on June 15, 1958, in Sulu, and has a college degree in Marine Education from the Zamboanga City College of Fishery. He also passed the teachers’ board examinations and taught at Mindanao State University in Sulu.
He became a member of the Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), where he was acknowledged as “a gifted energy healer” and allowed to practice his gift among fellow members. He was named an ARMM ambassador of goodwill.
In 2004, he performed his most remarkable healing on an unborn baby with a hole in her heart, technically called arterial septal defect (ASD).
The mother, Jocelyn Soriano, said that when she had her unborn child Nikki checked via ultrasound, the ob-gyn found a hole between the wall of the two heart chambers, and that her lungs were not fully developed. A CT scan was scheduled on a Monday, April 5, 2004.
Jocelyn begged God and Mama Mary to help the baby. “I told God that if they want me to have a baby, the child should be healthy. If not, then take her away from me, as I don’t want to see her suffer. I surrendered everything to God.
Inner voice
“After crying and praying, I saw a copy of the Inquirer and saw the column of Jaime Licauco about a cosmic healer named Warka, and how Jaime himself was cured by him. My inner voice told me I should go see him before Monday.”
She went to see Warka on Monday morning and told him the doctor’s findings. “He then asked me to lie down on the bed and put his right hand on my tummy. He told me to close my eyes and pray. I felt a warm energy in my tummy for the duration of the treatment, which lasted 15 minutes. After Warka told me the baby was fine and that I should not worry anymore. I was teary-eyed and all my fears and worries were gone.
“I went straight to the hospital to get admitted. I was operated on the following day, Holy Tuesday. The cardiologist, pulmonologist and pediatrician were all on standby.
“The baby was born by Caesarean section and was immediately connected to a pulsimeter and oxygen tank. They took an X-ray of her lungs upon delivery and took another one the following morning to confirm results. The first X-ray showed that her left lung was only half developed, but when they took another X-ray the following morning, everything was normal. After 24 hours, she was declared normal. We were discharged from the hospital the following day.”
Jocelyn visited Warka several times until she left for the United States and lost contact with him. Fourteen years later (two weeks ago), she visited Warka, and they came to my office with Nikki who appeared very healthy and happy.
“I believe that I belong to the few chosen ones who received a miracle from God. Cosmic energy comes from God, and Warka is the medium of that energy. To have just one session with him and have a healthy baby absolutely amazed us,” wrote Jocelyn.
If you tell this story to a Western-trained medical doctor, he will surely say this is no miracle at all—it is simply a case of either a spontaneous remission of illness, wrong diagnosis or something psychosomatic.
