Fearing that she might bring the coronavirus to her family, TV host Gretchen Ho has decided to go solo living.
Ho posted a video of her new crib in her YouTube vlog on Saturday, May 8. She revealed that she started to pay the condo unit since 2016 and it was turned over to her last year. She then bought furniture and appliances for the place.
“I was excited to get the place ready. Buti na lang ginawa ko ‘yun (It’s good I did that) because I’ve made this place livable before lockdown,” she said, adding that she has bought a lot of pieces that would have been hard to transport amid the lockdown.
“I’ve moved out because I have work everyday at the studio. I don’t want to risk it. I don’t want to bring the virus home, to my parents, to my family,” she clarified. “And we don’t know what’s gonna happen to this pandemic. We don’t know how long its gonna last.”
Ho also explained to viewers that among Filipino-Chinese, it is not a custom to move out, unless one is already married.
She credits her staff for making her “adulting” and condo-living easier, commending her assistant who does her videos and her driver who cooks for her.
For now, Ho make do of what she has in the unit while she feels that there are so many things that still need to be improved, like furniture and interiors.
“I’ll take it day by day, step by step,” she said.
Among her select pieces is a white board where she writes her to-do list. She also bought a printer online for her research because she wants her work to be in print always. She also has a mini reading area with a bean bag, a book shelf and the books she wants to read.
The last time she lived alone was when she attended a seminar for broadcasters and journalists in the United States.
“Sobrang saya noon. Wow, adult na ako,” she said. (That was so much fun. Wow, I’m already an adult.) JB
