OCTOBER 27, 2022

St. Luke’s nurses take a snapshot with Dyan Castillejo (ASICS Ambassador), Ma. Martina Geraldine "Gigi" Dimalibot (SLMC SVP and Chief Nursing Officer), Dr. Arturo De La Peña (SLMC President and CEO), Kabir Buxani (Chief Technological Officer of SONAK Group of Companies), Gurmeet Buxani (ASICS representative), Virginia Flores (SLMC Chief Marketing Officer) and Bhaby Lorenzo (ASICS representative).

In celebration of International Nurses Week, St. Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC) pays tribute to all of its nurses through the Nurses Day Celebration organized in both hospitals in Bonifacio Global City and Quezon City.

Various activities have been organized to highlight the celebration on May 12, beginning with a thanksgiving mass, virtual awards, the 6th Nursing Summit, and several online competitions and raffles.

“Honoring our nurses is important to us as they are among the medical frontliners who continue to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Without them, it is impossible for us to provide the best quality of healthcare to our patients,” Dr. Arturo S. De La Peña, President of SLMC, said.

St. Luke's Nurses Day Celebration
Nurses get appreciation baskets containing various food items that can be shared with their families.

In the St. Luke’s Nurses Pantry (inspired by the recent community pantries across the nation), the nurses will receive appreciation baskets (bayong of food) that contain steak, sausages, pasta, vegetables and drinks they can share with their families. Each nurse will also receive a pair of shoes from ASICS, limited edition Decathlon backpacks, and Algotherm body care products.

St. Luke's Nurses Day Celebration
St. Luke’s nurses receive an assortment of grocery goods, an exclusive backpack , body care products, and a pair of ASICS sneakers.

There will also be a raffle of Php 5,000 worth of grocery allowance every hour from 8 AM to 5 PM on May 12.  Likewise, items such as LED TVs and smartphones will be raffled off. St. Luke’s executives will also be giving away tokens of thanks (in the form of coffee vouchers)  to lucky nurses during their hospital rounds.

SONAK Corporation (“SONAK”) is the main sponsor for the giveaways that will be given to the 2,300 nurses in SLMC hospitals in Bonifacio Global City and Quezon City. SONAK is a Filipino global trading company that distributes sports, food, and health products to various countries in Asia, Europe, and North America.

The giving away of tokens on International Nurses Day runs all day at St. Luke’s Medical Center.

Anil Buxani, President of SONAK, shared his message to the nurses. “Anyone who has chosen nursing as a profession, or a vocation rather has the purest of hearts in the world. They work long hours, tirelessly making sure that their patients are always taken care of.  Now, in this pandemic, they have had to go above and beyond their job description, assuming the role of the various family members that we are missing by our side.”

The sponsored gifts to SLMC nurses include the ASICS sneakers and an exclusive 50% discount on ASICS shoes from May 12 to June 15, 2021. SONAK will also sponsor snacks and raffle items that will be given to nurses during the event.

“To the nurses, please know how truly grateful we are for everything that you do and for the love you give to your patients,” Buxani added.

“As we face more challenges the COVID-19 pandemic will bring to us, I hope the celebration of International Nurses Week will be an inspiration for our nurses to continue doing their important role of saving people,” Dr. De La Peña said.

SLMC will also extend the festivities on social media through online giveaways, games, and other surprises. The activities will use the hashtag #SLMCNursesDay2021.
