Actress and certified plantita Aubrey Miles unselfishly shared some tips on how to propagate plants.

In her latest Instagram post on Nov. 9, where she shared a photo of some of her plants, she talked about propagation. “Of course when you start planting you gotta know how to care, grow and propagate,” she said.

Propagation, Miles stressed, should not really be that “complicated.”

“When plants grow, it will actually show you when it’s time to cut and propagate them. A lot of them are pretty easy but some of them are hard. You have some extra care, different methods, and a bit of prayer,” she said, adding that there are many ways to propagate.

“Sometimes you don’t even need to do it, some they will just grow wild in your backyard or even it will pop out from no where around the pot. I just want to share that before I cut I wait for them to be lush even at least more than 10 leaves so when I cut it, it still looks lush. I’m not a seller so I don’t really have to rush them. I enjoy it and let them grow first before selling,” she said.

From her experience, she believes that there are plants that are hard to propagate but that it can still be possibly done as all plants are capable.

“Just to remind you guys, I propagate indoors. Imagine that. I think I’m more of a collector than a seller. We always have to do both though,” she said. Among those Miles have propagated are Anthurium foliage, Variegated black cardinal, Alocasias, Anthurium warocquanum, Caramel marble, Philodendron Melanocrysum, Philodendron Gigas, Begonias and Obliqua runner.

“Maybe some of you out there will say it’s not true or it’s easy for you. I believe it, especially if you’re equipped. I grow in my living room and I prefer it like that. I need to propagate indoors so I can train them to for that environment when they grow. Adaptability is key,” she said.

So, what’s the hardest plant to propagate?

It’s Plant ID – Variegated black cardinal, she said.

“I got babies from this plant already check out my story,” she said.  /ra
