Young actor JC Alcantara feels that his girlfriend, who was against his being in showbiz, was not being helpful, which was why he decided to break up with her.

The revelation came during the online press conference for the series “Love Bites” last Sept. 4, where he stars with Shanaia Gomez in the episode titled “TOTGA.”

“Minsan kasi hindi natin alam, I mean, pumasok tayo sa ganitong relasyon pero sobrang higpit so hindi natin magawa ang gusto natin. Hindi tayo maka-explore pa ng pangarap natin kasi hinihigpitan tayo,” he said.

(Sometimes, we are not aware, I mean we enter a relationship, but it can be so restrictive that we are not able to do what we want. We can’t explore our dreams because we are being restricted.)

Alcantara then chose not to stay in the relationship anymore because it has become “toxic” for him.

“Hindi ko makuha ‘yung pangarap ko. Gusto ko kasi sinusuportahan ako, suportahan kami. Ayaw niyang mapunta ako sa pangarap ko na maging artista before. Hindi niya gusto ‘yun kasi marami daw siyang magiging kaagaw sa akin. Hindi pa ako nagso-showbiz noon,” he narrated.

(I was not able to pursue my dreams. I want to be supported, for us to support each other. She did not want me to reach my dream to become an actor. She did not like it because she said she will have rivals on me. I was not in showbiz then yet.)

Alcantara took that as a hint from God to not continue with the relationship anymore. When asked if he can be one’s TOTGA (the one that got away), Alcantara said yes.

“Before, na-experience ko ‘yun, ang pinili niya ‘yung ang pinsan ko. So, ang sakit lang, ‘di ba? Na-experience ko iyon noong high school ako. Sabi ko, hindi ko naman ito kawalan. Mas marami pang better na makikilala ako at mas magugustuhan ako. Hindi rin sila nagtagal,” he revealed.

(I’ve experienced that before, she chose my cousin. So, it was so painful, right? I experienced that when I was in high school. I told myself, this is not my loss. I will meet better ones and those who will like me. My cousin and that girl didn’t last long.)
