The Philippines’ hosting of the 30th SEA Games started off on an embarrassing note due to a number of logistical inefficiencies.
Despite claiming that preparations were 90 percent ready last October, the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) has a lot to explain. Over the past few days, Phisgoc has been slammed for lack of hotel accommodations and transportation, unfinished and untested sporting venues, and corruption, among others.
Here’s how some people reacted online:

Now let’s talk press IDs…I got mine earlier today but wasn’t easy. Collection point was a bit of a mess and directed from one official to another. Heard from a fellow media member that there was no such point at Clark so he had to make come to Manila to collect his. pic.twitter.com/YoQpW9w7J0

Kikiam and egg for breakfast? 🤦🏻♂️ I hope the food for the athletes is better than this. And I wonder if they provide halal or vegetarian alternatives… 🤔 https://t.co/26YM5k6CbP

As someone who works in sports retail, I can tell you w/ full confidence – it’s curious to have the wholesale price of anything be more expensive than retail. The highest quality performance collared shirt shouldn’t cost that much. You should, though, have spent more on the shoes https://t.co/y1L10n5XWF pic.twitter.com/s6O0wX95Af

We need people willing to support sports, not people using sports to support themselves. #supportourathletes #SEAGames2019
